Synthetic Biology
Engineering biological systems with precision and programmability.
Synthetic biology represents the engineering discipline of the life sciences — applying rational design, standardisation, and engineering principles to construct biological systems with defined properties and programmable behaviour.
From genetic circuit design and metabolic engineering to the construction of minimal cells and cellular factories, synthetic biology is one of the most powerful tools for understanding and engineering life. CHOZENLAB is interested in how synthetic biology principles can be applied to build biological computing components, therapeutic systems, and biological tools for research.
Areas of interest
- Genetic Circuit DesignDesigning gene regulatory networks with defined logic and behaviour.
- Metabolic EngineeringReprogramming cellular metabolism for biosynthesis and biotechnology.
- Cellular ProgrammingEngineering cells to execute defined programs in response to stimuli.
- Minimal CellsDesigning cells with reduced, well-understood genomes for research.
- Biological PartsStandardised biological components for modular system assembly.
- BiosensorsEngineering cells to detect and respond to molecular signals.
Current Stage
This research direction is in the early conceptual and exploratory stage. CHOZENLAB has not yet published papers, completed experiments, or developed commercial products in this area.
