Bioengineering

Engineering at the interface of biology, materials, and medicine.

Bioengineering encompasses CHOZENLAB's long-term interest in the engineering of biological systems at the cellular, tissue, and organ scale — from biomaterials and tissue engineering to the development of organoids and biointerfaces.

This is one of the most forward-looking directions in our research vision. We are interested in how engineering principles, materials science, and biological science can converge to produce functional tissue constructs, biomedical devices, and eventually artificial organs. These technologies have profound implications for medicine, drug development, and the study of human biology.

Tissue engineering, artificial organs, and advanced bioengineering are long-term research visions at CHOZENLAB. No products, clinical trials, or experimental systems currently exist.

Areas of interest

  • Tissue EngineeringGrowing functional biological tissues outside the body using cells and scaffolds.
  • BiomaterialsDesigning materials that interface with and support biological systems.
  • OrganoidsMiniature organ-like structures grown in vitro from stem cells.
  • Artificial OrgansLong-term vision for engineered replacements for biological organs.
  • BiointerfacesEngineering interfaces between biological tissue and synthetic devices.
  • 3D BioprintingAdditive manufacturing of biological structures using living cells.

Current Stage

This research direction is in the early conceptual and exploratory stage. CHOZENLAB has not yet published papers, completed experiments, or developed commercial products in this area.
